Take me Elsewhere

Birthdays are sordid days, your facebook wall explodes, your phone starts ringing and all you want to do is find a hole and stick your head in it. Every one around you is beaming with happiness while you sit around and notice all the lines on your face and all the crap you've put your body through. Somehow every birthday I've had has been an awful series of unfortunate events. By the end of it I feel that it would probably be best if I left for someplace obscure and burnt my passport. Which is why most of my friends have decided that birthday celebrations are best held before or after.

Shkaplan, Holmes, Flower and I decided that this post birthday weekend would be held at a place known only as, elsewhere. It's funny how even living in Goa doesn't stop this burning urge to escape and by just the name of this place you know you are going to taste just a teensy bit of heaven.

We arrived at night and crossed a bridge into what felt like neverland. Of course the true beauty of the place only hit me when I woke up walked out of our beautiful old bed and opened the doors to the ocean. Shkaplan and I had coffee on our porch(yes, our porch) after which we proceeded to have a fabulous breakfast with the others under a banyan tree. The old houses stood out against the grass, the sound of the sea in the background only confirmed that I was obviously dreaming.

I think its safe to say that all of us felt as if we were in a different world. The weekend was magical, good food, great company and a few random volleyball sessions are just what you need. Of course Holmes and I have now decided to sell all our assets and move into one of the old Goan houses for as long as it will buy us for this is honestly how everyone should live.

As we crossed the bridge back to reality, dogs and a stuffy car I couldn't help but feel a little bit of my heart had stayed back. Take me back, take me elsewhere.

Of monsters and men presents-little talks. This is a video worth watching. enjoy

Of bizarre relationships and old school loving

"Your light's reflected now, reflected from afar
we were but stones, your light's made us stars"

I'm saying this in full knowledge of the fact that I will now be considered a flake but in every cliche lies some amount of truth.
Love is in the air.

Its been a whirlwind year of tearful ends, shady beginnings and well old school romances. I remember my first high school romance. Dating wasn't allowed so we had to make do with passing chits and leaving letters in each others desks. We would sneak off into the bushes and spend hours uncomfortably perched on rocks and talk about life, books, dreams etc. When I finally took the initiative to hug him he ran away and well that was that.

Of course the rather pathetic end to that story is not how this year is shaping up. Shkaplan and I have already turned into little old ladies that share juicy gossip over tea and its fabulous! Here's to love found, attraction that cannot be explained and Steamy romantical weekends in exotic locations.

Before I turn this blog into a gossip column(It will make for an extremely interesting one mind you) I will leave you with an all time favourite. Light years by pearl jam. It isn't the happiest song but it does seem to fit. I am forever in debt Sargam.
Enjoy.

Radio silence

When you spend nearly a week in some sort of a waking dream its extremely hard to walk into work and hit the ground running.

Which leads me to the topic of surreal holidays. This long weekend lead me to Hampi. When you are completely cut off from the world surrounded by thousands of years of history something changes inside. This bizarre desert spotted with lush green rice fields and decaying architecture made me think about how sometimes we forget things around us that are tangible. Being cut off and unplugged from the rest of the world awoke my sense of touch. It was like having your sinuses clear after almost a year, even the filthiest smells seem exhilarating.

Four days with fabulous company discovering ruins, rock climbing, endless conversations and great south indian food don't seem enough.

Getting into work only to contemplate your next holiday is just wrong; So I have decided to put an end to all the sulking with this video.

It's a music video of sorts beautifully crafted by Natalia Dufraisse and Flip Piskorzynski. The perfect thing to stumble upon on your post holiday blues. Thanks Ria

The epic finale to my tantrum. Gravity. enjoy

"Be Stupid"

Have you ever had this urge to get up in a fancy restaurant and do something silly?

Shkaplan and I had a fabulous lunch at Busaba in Mumbai recently and somewhere between the
pleasantries and talking in hushed tones he decided to show me this very bizarre music video. I am 100% sure that this is what lead to the Bob Marley sing off a few hours later.(at another fancy restaurant mind you)

Die Antwoord are "a fresh, futuristik, flame-throw-flow-freeking, zef rap-rave krew from da dark dangerous depths of africa." If you are into M.I.A you will love this band. They are obscene, awkward and downright strange but there is some twisted little part of my brain that wants to keep listening!

I would however advise you not to watch this video at a fancy restaurant. Watch out for Yolandi Visser with her scrawny form and sparkly eye paint. She is by far the strangest, hottest most captivating weirdo I have ever seen!
