Nick and Norah's Infinite playlist

The soundtrack for this movie is fantastic. I think the reason I like the movie so much is because I connect with the characters so well! One should go to design school only for its interesting company.

I'm not going to go into the artists instead I'm going to post the songs I like the most. Also because some of these songs were redone for the movie. They span all sorts of moods but essentially it's the kind of music you want to listen to when you need a lift.

This is a song by the real tuesday weld called Last words. I don't know how to explain how i feel about it other than the fact that I like it a lot. Pathetic I know

Florence and the machine

So I'm angsty and that is seriously going to affect what I put up on this blog for a bit!

Florence and the machine-dog days
fabulous song fabulous video.

Its off their hit album 'lungs' though I'm not sure i like the rest of it.

One word of advice, do not listen to this on your laptop speakers(don't listen to anything on laptop speakers
it does no one any good) use headphones, or even better plug it into some good loud speakers and wake up the nieghbourhood! Enjoy!

Regina spektor

And I'm back!
a friend i'd like to call starfish brought me back to my obsessive regina spektor days.He also told me about the 'eet' video. It's so beautiful!

Untouchable face

Another Ani Difranco song I know but I just found it apt for this moment in life( I of course am not going to tell you why) But I'm quite sure every woman has one of these men in her life.

Raeesa introduced me to this song a while ago and after that I've been systematic about it and listening to all her albums. Untouchable face is from the album dilate and was released in 1996. It has some other interesting stuff on it too like joyful girl and dilate. Listen to it when you have the time. I'm posting the lyrics because they are just so great! enjoy!

I found this video quite randomly and think it's quite nice.
The music video is directed by Elise Masur, edited by Alanna Stewart.

think i'm going for a walk now
i feel a little unsteady
i don't want nobody to follow me
'cept maybe you
i could make you happy you know
if you weren't already
i could do a lot of things
and i do

tell you the truth i prefer
the worst of you
too bad you had to have a better half
she's not really my type
but i think you two are forever
and i hate to say it but
you're perfect together

so fuck you
and your untouchable face
and fuck you
for existing in the first place
and who am i
that i should be vying for your touch
and who am i
i bet you can't even tell me that much

two-thirty in the morning
and my gas tank will be empty soon
neon sign on the horizon
rubbing elbows with the moon
a safe haven of sleepless
where the deep fryer's always on
radio is counting down
the top 20 country songs
and out on the porch the fly strip is
waving like a flag in the wind
y'know, i don't look forward
to seeing you again soon
you'll look like a photograph of yourself
taken from far far away
and i won't know what to do
and i won't know what to say

except fuck you...

i see you and i'm so perplexed
what was i thinking
what will i think of next
where can i hide
in the back room there's a lamp
that hangs over the pool table
and when the fan is on it swings
gently side to side
there's a changing constellation
of balls as we are playing
i see orion and say nothing
the only thing i can think of saying

is fuck you...

A long silence

These past few months have just been so completely hectic that I haven't had time to post anything. I do however regret having ever not continued this blog. Sorry about that.

Its been a time of disappointment and happiness a lot of my favourite musicians have released new albums(most of them very bad) and I've been trying to keep in touch.

Gorillaz launched their new album Empire ants in march this year and was conceived from an unfinished Gorillaz project called Carousel.  It features guest appearances by several artists, including Snoop Dogg, Gruff Rhys, Bobby Womack, Mos Def, Lou Reed, Mick Jones, and the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble.

I'm not sure if I like this album but what caught my eye was a song featuring Little Dragon. I've mentioned the band earlier and love their music. One can essentially put this song into two parts; the latter being the more exciting bit. I can't put my finger on it but there is something about this song that I really like! What I'm asking is for you to listen to it before making up your mind.

Nouvelle Vague

Somehow I can't find any information on this singer partly because there is a really
famous french band that also goes by the same name. If anyone finds some information on her please tell me!
Anyway I'm putting it up because I think its simply fantastic. Her voice with that slightly sultry gaspy tone is just amazing, and anyone who can squeal that high and still stay in tune should be awarded!
Its entertaining and mad. What I would give to be able to sing like that! The swing in the background just adds to the sound.
All her other songs are a little disappointing though.
enjoy!
